The latest jobs report from the US Department of Labor shows signs of a slowing but strong labor market. The economy added 155,000 jobs in November, fewer than expected, and the unemployment rate remained steady at 3.7%.
The labor force participation rate also remained unchanged, but the number of people who had looked for a job in the past year but stopped their search in November because they couldn’t find work has risen by nearly 200,000 in the past year. The number of people working part time but would like to work full time has also risen in the past year. The report also shows people working part time in addition to full time is now above its pre-recession high.
