Create a Job Board that Keeps Recruiters Happy

It seems as though job seekers are the primary market for your job board. However, recruiters are the people who will use it over and over again.

Think about it: Once a candidate has been placed, it’s not likely that he or she will be looking for a job for a long time. However, recruiters will make a habit out of using your board because that’s how they find candidates.

Here are some features that your job board should include to keep recruiters happy.

1. An Easy-To-Understand User Interface

Whether it’s a website or a stand-alone application, a platform needs to be easy to use. People should be able to intuitively understand how they can accomplish basic tasks.

Now, put yourself in the shoes of a recruiter and visit your job board. Is it easy to find the “Login” button? Once logged in, is it easy to find the right kinds of candidates? Does your filter offer recruiters everything they need? Can they save certain filters with names so that they can easily search using those filters from time to time?

Poll your users who are recruiters to get a sense of what they like and don’t like about the board. Respond to their feedback by making the appropriate changes.

2. Get Some Personality On Your Site

Is your job board just a boring, stop-and-shop place that offers no personality? Does it lack any kind of entertainment value?

If so, change that. Put some spice on your site with a blog that not only offers relevant commentary about the job market, but also a humorous story or two. Throw in some funny pictures, animated GIFs, and viral videos and make your blog a place that people enjoy visiting.

3. Make Sure That Your Site Works On All Platforms

Welcome to the mobile age. People aren’t just using desktops and laptops anymore. They’re using smartphones, tablets, and mini-tablets to access websites.

Does your job board look professional when viewed on any device? Can people navigate easily when viewing it on a smartphone?

If not, then it’s time for a design upgrade. You’ll need to contact a web developer and put in place a job board that is responsive in design. The word “responsive” here means that it’s viewable on any device.

The fact of the matter is that you’re losing traffic if your website isn’t responsive. There are simply too many people who use mobile devices to browse the web.

Recruiters are your bread and butter if you run a job board. Make sure that your site is designed to meet their needs.
